The Harry S. Truman Scholarship Foundation awards students who are a full-time junior-level student at a four-year institution pursuing a bachelor's degree. "Junior" refers to a student who plans to continue full-time undergraduate study and who expects to receive a baccalaureate degree the following year or is in their third year of collegiate study expects to graduate during the same year. They need to be nominated by the Truman Scholarship faculty representative at his/her institution and in the upper quarter of his/her class. Must be a United States citizen or a U.S. national from American Samoa or the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands. Applicants must have an extensive record of public and community service, have outstanding leadership potential and communication skills.
